Who is collecting your data?
Data controller: JELD-WEN UK (the door manufacturer supplying Howdens with moulded internal doors). The portal is operated on behalf of JELD-WEN UK by its field research team.
What we collect and why
We are researching how tradesmen and homeowners choose internal doors. If you take part in a short interview at a Howdens depot, we record:
- Audio recording of the conversation (voice)
- Your opinions about doors, buying habits and trends
- Location of the depot where the interview took place (GPS)
- Optional contact details, only if you agree to a follow-up
Purpose: market research to understand trends in internal door purchases. Legal basis: consent (you agree to be recorded before the interview starts) or legitimate interest for business-to-business research.
Recording & consent
You will always be told the conversation is being recorded before it starts, and asked to agree. You can withdraw at any time during the interview.
How long we keep it
Recordings and notes are kept only for the duration of the research project (maximum 12 months), then permanently deleted. Audio files and interview records are stored in secure cloud storage (Cloudflare, which holds a Data Processing Agreement and UK Addendum).
Who has access
Only the JELD-WEN UK research team with the access key can view or export interview data. Recordings are never published or shared with third parties.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access a copy of your data
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to processing
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, ask the interviewer or contact the research team (see the portal operator) — we will action erasure requests within 30 days.
Complaints
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
